It looks like fans of Arun Vijay are in for a disappointment as his much-awaited action film Yaanai, which was supposed to hit the screens on June 17, is postponed. Though the makers are yet to come up with an official update, it is more or less confirmed, going by the social media posts from a few trusted sources.

The movie directed by Hari was supposed to have a box office clash with RJ Balaji's Veetla Vishesham, which has the latter himself directing it along with NJ Saravanan. Veetla Vishesham, the official remake of Badhaai Ho, is said to be releasing in around 300 theatres in Tamil Nadu.

Team Yaanai has been busy promoting the movie in many places in the state in the last few weeks, but it looks like they weren't happy with the number of theatres offered to them, thanks to Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram's juggernaut at the box office.

As around half-a-dozen Tamil movies are getting ready to release on June 24, makers of Yaanai are said to be considering July 1 for its new theatrical release date. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead in the movie which has a bevy of actors essaying pivotal roles in it.

This is the second film of Arun Vijay to get postponed during the pandemic era; Arivazhagan's Borrder which has him playing an officer of an anti terrorist squad was slated for a release in November last year. But the action thriller is yet to see the light of the day.

His last release was Oh My Dog which had a direct release on Amazon Prime Video in April. Arun's last theatrical release was Mafia (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) which hit the screens in February 2020.
