Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, is all set to make her big screen debut in the upcoming multilingual movie Vrushabha, alongside Malayalam superstar Mohanlal . The film, directed by Kannada filmmaker Nanda Kishore, is being mounted on a huge scale.

Announcing Shanaya's entry into the film, on Saturday filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his excitement and also preemptively addressed the ongoing debate surrounding nepotism. While he acknowledged Shanaya's privileged background, he also emphasised her merits and passion for the craft.

"Some journeys are perceived as privileged, some are also given the tag of lineage benefit...and all of that is true. But in you, Shanaya, I have only seen a girl who dreamt of nothing but being a pure artist and facing the camera only when you had put in all that immense hard work and so much passion…This is such a brilliant opportunity for you," Karan said, supporting Shanaya's talent and dedication.

Karan also expressed his gratitude towards the entire team behind Vrushabha, including Mohanlal. The filmmaker mentioned that the film would be a pan-Indian spectacle with a captivating narrative and breathtaking visuals. He added, "You go shine on girl...focus on the end goal and never be distracted by obstacles on your course! Your perseverance will guide you… And you and I both know what exciting news is yet to come."

Earlier, Mohanlal had described Vrushabha as a "prestigious project" in his career. And director Nanda Kishore termed the opportunity to work with Mohanlal as a "huge blessing". The producers noted that the movie will be released on over 6000 screens worldwide. And they also noted that the movie will be high on emotions and VFX.

Vrushabha is bankrolled by AVS Studios, First Step Movies, and Balaji Telefilms. And it will go on the floors in July.
