After a gap of 30 years since their superhit film Amaram, Mammootty and Ashokan will share screen space for the first time in three decades for Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam.
The movie, which is currently being shot in Palani, is also the first collaboration between the megastar and Jallikkattu and Churuli director Lijo. The movie also has Tamil actress Ramya Pandian, who starred in Joker and Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum, as part of the cast.
In a recent interview, Ashokan had said that the movie is a different experience and the each of the characters including Mammootty’s is different from the ones that the actors have essayed so far. The actor is also thrilled that he could work with Mammootty after a gap of three decades and that too in the megastar’s production.
Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, which has Theni Eeshwar as its cinematographer, is bankrolled by the star under his new banner Mammootty Company. Lijo is also co-producing the film, which is set to wrap up production by the first week of December.
Lijo and Mammootty, meanwhile, is set to team up again for a segment in the Netflix anthology, based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories. Their collaboration is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s memoir Kadugannawa Oru Yathra, which revolves around the writer tracing the roots of a Sinhalese girl whom he had met while he was young.
Mammootty, who earlier this month completed his portions for Akhil Akkineni’s Agent, is expected to join the shoot of CBI 5, in which he will reprise the role of CBI Sethurama Iyer, on December 10.
