Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari opens up about Sudha Murthy-Narayana Murthy's biopic delay - 'We're still...'

Back in 2021, director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari had announced that she will be directing a film based on Sudha Murthy and NR Narayana Murthy's life. Four years down the line, there's no concrete update about the project. In a recent interview, the filmmaker opened up about the delay in making the Sudha Murthy and NR Narayana Murthy's biopic. Despite the delay, Ashwiny is looking forward to presenting their life story on the screen.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari on Sudha Murthy biopic

In an interview with News18, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari spoke about her work plans. The filmmaker revealed that she is directing a couple of movies. However, she didn't divulge more details. When asked about Sudha Murthy and Narayan Murthy's biopic, the director said, "We’re still writing that. It’s taking far too long but I would love to tell their story."

Earlier, in an interview with PTI, Ashwiny shared her experience working on the life story of Sudha Murthy and Narayana Murthy. "Their story also makes you think about your priorities and what’s your purpose in life apart from the work you do. It’s not a movie, it’s a life experience," she said.

Tiwari also stated that their biopic will be one of the most challenging and cherished films of her life. Fast forward to now, the film is in its writing stage. Apart from the biopic, Ashwiny has other work projects lined up. She confirmed to News18 that she's producing a few movies. 

Ashwiny Iyer's production plans

Tiwari revealed that she now has a tie-up with Ramesh Taurani's Tips Films. The director shared that Taurani's daughter Jaya wanted her to partner with them. 

"I got so many calls as this association came as a surprise since such partnerships usually happen between two men in positions of power. But this is how change happens," she added. Ashwiny believes this type of association allows one to tell more stories for and by women.
