Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who helmed the movie, has made a strong statement regarding the news of Bareilly Ki Barfi 2. Here's what she said...

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari questions the intention behind Bareilly Ki Barfi sequel

Ashwiny Iyer wondered if Bareilly Ki Barfi really deserves a sequel. "I'm not a very big fan of sequels... a sequel has to be so good that it has to be better than your previous one," she told Zoom, explaining of how times changed. Ashwiny pointed out that back when Bareilly Ki Barfineas made, Lucknow and Bareilly were called midtowns and now they're cities. "A lot of things have changed in eight years... So, how then do you connect your audience while keeping the same sentiment of the film?," the director questioned, thus probably clearing all rumours of a sequel at least specifically about Bareilly Ki Barfi. Making it clearer, she asked if sequels were made just for the heck of it or they actually made sense.

The story of Bareilly Ki Barfi

Bareilly Ki Barfi revolved around a woman named Bitti who found herself in a novel she read. While searching for the author, she finds herself in the midst of a love triangle. The movie starred talents like Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. The film earned acclaim from critics and audiences alike and is a sweet tale loved by many.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari is currently working on an untitled project featuring Kiara Advani and Kareena Kapoor Khan. She also has Narayana and Sudha Murthy biopic in the works.

Meanwhile, Kriti Sanon will be seen in Cocktail 2, while Ayushmann Khurrana has Maddock Supernatural Universe film Thama where he plays the vampire for the first time, apart from projects with Sooraj Barjatya, Sameer Saxena and Sara Ali Khan respectively. Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming projects include Guns & Gulaabs season 2 and Toaster, among others.
