Bigil, which was released in 2019 along with Karthi-starrer Kaithi, went on to become Vijay's highest grosser, surpassing films like Mersal and Sarkar. One of the highlights of the movie was the character Rayappan which Vijay essayed in it. The character won praise from critics and movie buffs alike, thanks to the manner in which Vijay portrayed it.

Though the character doesn't appear after a point in the movie, it is considered as one of the best roles Vijay enacted in his career spanning three decades. Rayappan's intro scene, face-off between Jackie Shroff and the emotional scene between his son (also played by Vijay) are a few sequences which are enjoyed by fans of the star even today.

The Twitter account of Amazon Prime Video posted a popular scene from Bigil and tweeted, "Imagine a full film made only for the story of Rayappan." Needless to say, fans of Vijay became ecstatic after seeing the tweet and started posting pictures and dialogues from Bigil in the comment section.

But little did they know that Atlee, the movie's director, would come up with an exciting reply to it. The young filmmaker replied with a dialogue which Rayappan says often, "Senjittaaaaa pochuuuuu" (consider it done).

This had led to a speculation that Atlee and Vijay might team up for another project. Fans hope that a prequel of Rayappan which explains how he became a powerful don would be nothing short of a blockbuster. Before Bigil, the actor-filmmaker duo had joined hands for Theri (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) and Mersal (streaming on Netflix and Zee5).

Vijay, who is currently busy with Thalapathy 66, is likely to team up with Lokesh Kanagaraj for his next. Fans are eagerly waiting to know who would be at the helm of Thalapathy 68.
