After an abysmal opening day of Rs 3.5 crore, Attack is still struggling to stay afloat. The action film, which has John Abraham play a superhuman, earned approximately Rs 7.26 crore at the box office.

Trade analyst Joginder Tuteja, in a report for Koimoi, writes that the box office collection should have doubled over Saturday. The film's performance is expected to be better on Sunday, but it still has competition from The Kashmir Files, SS Rajamouli's historical drama RRR, and new releases like Jared Leto's Morbius

Tuteja continues that Abraham has a lot riding on Attack for he not only stars in the film but is also the writer and producer on the project. The actor had waited patiently for the pandemic-mandated restrictions to be lifted to release the film in cinemas and had also averted offers from streaming platforms.

Abraham plays a super soldier, the first-ever prototype, who is recruited to protect the country against enemy threats. The film has received reviews that are mostly on the negative side, though some critics have appreciated the action sequences.

"The action is what makes the film an effortless watch," writes Shaheen Irani in her review of the film for OTTplay.

Directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, Attack also features Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh, Prakash Raj and Ratna Pathak Shah in pivotal roles.

It is the first film in the action franchise which is based on a world where “future wars will be fought on technology and artificial intelligence (AI).”

In a recent media interaction, Abraham had spoken about the scope of the franchise: "Our inspiration was that we have to make an Indian film, which the world will watch and think we can make movies like these too. That even we have such action heroes, super-soldiers, who don’t wear their underwear outside their pants."

Attack is backed by Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios, Abraham’s JA Entertainment and Ajay Kapoor Productions.
