Director Suni’s two-part film Avatara Purusha was meant to have the first part in theatres in December 2021, but then got pushed ahead to May 2022. Back then, the team always maintained that the best time gap between the first and second instalment would be around 90 days, but when Avatara Purusha 1 – Ashtadigbandana Mandalaka came out, Suni and leading man Sharan first spoke of a possible October outing for the next part, which would be at least 5 months later.
But then, that did not happen, and every query about the second part was always met with a delay in VFX work response. The film – Avatara Purusha Trishankupayanam – has finally found its way to theatres. Produced by Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah, the film released in theatres on April 5, without much publicity, and is, according to sources, headed to OTT this week. A source tells OTTplay that Avatara Purusha Trishankupayanam will be on Amazon Prime Video latest by April 12, in time for the Eid/Vishu festivities.
That the film would be on Prime Video was a given, since the banner favours the streamer and that the first part is also on the platform. A horror comedy, Avatara Purusha is about the Jois family, which has been keeping a magical gem – Trishankumani – in safekeeping, away from dark forces. While the first film focused on the family, their long-lost son Karna, and a junior cine artiste pretending to be him, by the end of it, the track shifted towards the various parties interested in getting their hands on the gem and the immense power it would bestow on the beholder.
In the second instalment, the battle for the possession of the Trishankumani intensifies between the key players – Anila (Sharan), Kumara (Srinagara Kitty), Dharka (Ashutosh Rana), etc. The film also stars Sai Kumar, Ayyappa Sharma, Ashika Ranganath, among others.
