The eagerly anticipated Tamil sci-fi comedy Ayalaan is finally in cinemas. According to reports, the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer has already been bagged by a major OTT platform. Helmed by R Ravikumar, the latest about the film is that it will be available to stream on Sun NXT after its theatrical run. The movie is based on the story of an alien who gets trapped on Earth and seeks help from four men from Tamil Nadu. Besides Sivakarthikeyan, the film also stars Rakul Preet Singh as the female lead, along with Isha Koppikar, Sharad Kelkar, Yogi Babu and Karunakaran in supporting roles. ‘Chithha’ star Siddharth has lent his voice to the alien’s character in the film.

Ayalaan’s sequel in works

In a recent promotional interview, Sivakarthikeyan revealed that the sci-fi comedy will have a second installment that will come our way soon. The Doctor star confirmed that the makers of the film are thrilled about making a sequel, as they are now more familiar with the CGI work that went into the making of the film. He also added that although Ayalaan is a film that is made for children, it will be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. Sivakarthikeyan said that the alien character that Siddharth has dubbed for will "undoubtedly steal the show".

There is a lot of scope to explore science fiction, says R Ravikumar

Ayalaan's director, R Ravikumar who debuted with the 2015 science fiction drama Indru Netru Naalai, has always been fascinated by the underexplored sci-fi genre. “I think I have a lot to explore in this field. But at the same time, I have many questions, since it's a complicated genre to film. However, I like trying out things that are generally deemed impossible. When something is called difficult, it makes me excited to work on it and make it happen. And moreover, it gives me a lot of scope to try and experiment,” the director said. He revealed that his upcoming film with Suriya is also in the same genre.
