The makers of Tamil web series Ayali unveiled its trailer recently. The two-and-a-half minute promo video offers a sneak peek into its plot and characters. It revolves around a bunch of people in a village who are obsessed with practicing regressive acts in the disguise of tradition.
The eight-episode series features Abi Nakshatra, Anumol, Aruvi Madhan, Lingaa and Singampuli in key roles. The story unfolds when a young girl nurtures her ambition to become a daughter. However, the village she stays in is driven by people who believe in marrying off girls at a younger age.
How she convinces her orthodox-minded parents and regressive villagers forms the rest of the story. S Kushmavathi has bankrolled the series under the banner of Estrella Stories while Muthukumar has helmed it. Ayali also touches upon various superstitions which led many to lead a regressive life in their village.
Lakshmi Priya, Smruthi Venkat and Bagavathy Perumal are a few others who will also be seen essaying prominent characters in Ayali. Veenai Maindhan and Sachin have written screenplay and dialogues along with director Muthu Kumar. Revaa has composed music while Ramji and Ganesh Siva have handled cinematography and editing respectively.
Ayali is set to stream on Zee5 from January 26. Its makers hope that the coming-of-age drama is expected to be a treat for those who love rural drama which touches upon social issues with a tinge of humour.
Director Muthu Kumar recently said that the series has been made keeping in mind the need to encourage women education and empowerment in today's world. This is also the first Tamil series from Zee5 to be dropped on the platform in 2023.
