Baapu: Dhanya Balakrishna’s dedication stuns director, here’s what happened

Two Telugu films are set to hit the screens on February 21, 2025. One of them is a rural village drama titled Baapu, featuring Brahmaji in the lead role. The film is generating a good pre-release buzz. Dhanya Balakrishna plays one of the leads, and this film is expected to showcase her acting prowess like never before.

Speaking about her role, Dhanya says, "Though I was roped in to play the lead, my director was not convinced about my look and said, ‘You look way too commercial.’ Even after a few shots, he was not impressed. Then, I understood why he felt that way and decided to take matters into my own hands. I spent an entire day shooting under the sun without using sunscreen to get a natural tan. The next day, when I arrived on set, he was shocked to see how much I fit into the character."

Dhanya Balakrishna is known for playing glamorous roles, but in recent times, she has been exploring diverse characters. In her last film, she played the role of a cop, and now she has transformed into a village belle. Brahmaji plays her father in the film, and Dhanya says it was a delightful experience. She also thanked him for accepting her in the role of his daughter.

Baapu cast and crew details

Amani plays one of the main leads in the film and is seen as Brahmaji's wife. Baapu tells the heartfelt story of a son who fulfills his father’s dream while managing family responsibilities and navigating various hardships, including financial struggles faced by farmers. "The issues showcased in the film are quite heartwarming," Dhanya adds.

RR Dhruvan has composed the music for Baapu, which also features Sudhakar Reddy, Mani Aegurla, and Avasarala Srinivas in key roles. The film is produced by Raju and Bhanu Prasad Reddy under the Comrade Film Factory banner. With its rich content, Baapu is expected to resonate well with both theatrical and OTT audiences.
