It was in 2019 that an announcement on the Tamil remake of Malayalam film Joseph was made. Producer-turned-actor RK Suresh was roped in to play the titular tole in the project which is produced by acclaimed filmmaker Bala. Padmakumar, who directed the original version, was brought on board to helm the movie, too.
Suresh had earlier said that he approached Bala with the idea of remaking the film after he loved it. He had also expressed hopes on the project becoming a turning point in his career. The first look of the film, which was titled Visithiran, was released in 2020, during the occasion of Deepavali. It featured Suresh and Poorna as a happy couple in it.
The movie's teaser was later unveiled by Suriya; his respect for Bala needs no introduction. He had expressed happiness for releasing it through his social media account. Now, the makers of Visithiran has come up with an update on its release. Suresh himself took to Twitter to inform that the team is planning a release on November. He also posted a new still from the movie which has him riding a scooter. However, he hasn't mentioned if the project will have a theatrical release or go the OTT way.
Like Joju George, who played the protagonist in the Malayalam version, Suresh, too, will be seen sporting two looks in the movie. He had reportedly gain close to 20 kg for one of his appearances in the film, and later shed some kilos for the second appearance, which is likely to appear in the flashback sequences. Though the team had initially planned to retain the same title in Tamil, they decided to go with a Tamil title after the completion of shooting. Visithiran, which has Poorna, Madhu Shalini, Bagavathi Perumal, Ilavarasu, George Maryan and Anil Murali in pivotal roles, was earlier supposed to release in March 2020.
