Barun Sobti, who rose to fame with Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, has been doing well in the web space for a while now. Asur is one of the most loved OTT shows, featuring Barun in a pivotal role. The web series became successful upon its release in 2020. However, the second season was released three years later in 2023. Recently, when Barun was asked about the third installment of Asur, the actor shared a small update and didn't divulge more.
Barun Sobti hints at Asur 3's release date
In an interview with India Today, Barun Sobti revealed that Asur 3 is currently being written. When asked about the web show's tentative release date, the actor said, "It should be this year but don’t get too excited (laughs)." Barun was further questioned if Barkha Bisht could be the new Kali. To this, the actor stated that the makers are coming up with a different idea altogether.
For those who are unaware, Barun Sobti essays the role of an intelligence officer in Asur. His character is named Nikhil Nair. Back when Asur 2's trailer was released, the actor said that this web show was an emotional awakening for him. "I owe it to this show to unravel so many facets of me as an individual, and as an actor," the actor mentioned.
What's next for Barun Sobti?
While there's time for Asur 3 to release, Barun Sobti's new web show, Rakshak - India's Braves Chapter 2 has released. The series is currently streaming on Amazon miniTV. Directed by Karishmaa Oluchi, the OTT show also stars Surbhi Chandna. The Barun Sobti-starrer marks the actress' debut in the web space.
Meanwhile, Barun had a successful 2023 in terms of how his OTT projects performed. The actor was seen in Badtameez Dil with Ridhi Dogra. Later, season two of Asur was released. And then came Kohrra, for which Barun was widely appreciated due to his performance in the Netflix series. Sobti shared screen space with Suvinder Vicky in that web show.
