The release plans for Salman Khan's Battle of Galwan appear to be in flux, as new trade rumours are hinting at a possible postponement. Although the film was earlier scheduled to release on April 17, it is now being reported that it is a strategic change for the Independence Day weekend. Sources claim that the makers are considering releasing the film on August 14, 2026, highlighting the patriotic mood surrounding August 15, to enhance the film's impact at the box office. Amid this, director Apoorva Lakhia reacted to the release date postponement rumours.
In a conversation with Bombay Times, director Apoorva Lakhia wasn't sure of the development and responded, “I am not aware.” This only proves that the rumours of the Independence Day release window might be false.
A source said that further shooting is underway in Mumbai, with only a few days of shooting left before the film begins post-production and editing work. This project will also require a mandatory screening for the Ministry of Defense, which could impact the timeline. Salman Khan is reportedly keen on not rushing the film due to its sensitivity and patriotic nature.
An insider told Mid-Day, “It’s all speculation stemming from talk that the film may need a clearance from the Ministry of Defence. The makers are aiming for an Eid release. If they are unable to meet it, they’ll line it up for Independence Day.”
