Debutant director-actor Varun Kattimani’s Kannada film Bayaluseeme, which released in August 2023, has finally made its way to OTT. The Kannada political crime thriller that delves into the gritty realities of North Karnataka, more specifically, the Gajendragad region. Like most Kannada films that do make it to OTT, Bayaluseeme too has made its way to Amazon Prime Video, but on to the store only, where it is available on transactional video on demand (TVOD) for Rs 99 only.
The story of Bayaluseeme centres around Ramu (Varun Kattimani), a staunch supporter of Baburao Shinde (TS Nagabharana), an honest politician in Gajendragad. Ramu is in love with Akkamma (Samyukta Hornadu), a widow, and Shinde arranges their marriage. But their hopes of a peaceful life are are disrupted when Shankar (Ravi Shankar), a drug dealer, who has been eyeing a political seat, and Huliyappa (Yash Shetty), a recently released convict, team up to challenge Shinde's influence.
In the ensuing conflict, Ramu suffers personal tragedies, as the narrative unfolds with themes of betrayal, loyalty, and the quest for justice, set against the backdrop of political machinations and criminal activities. When the film released, the use of the Jowari dialect, characteristic of North Karnataka, was highlighted by critics, which, they reckoned, added authenticity and depth to the characters and their interactions. The film authentically portrays the region's dialect, culture, and socio-political dynamics.

Bayaluseeme is the latest Kannada film that’s only been hosted on the store of Prime Video, like, for instance, Kerebette, Thayi Kastur Gandhi, Amruthamathi and Gowri.
