Mumbai-based British actor and body builder Benedict Garrett is part of the cast of Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic – a small role that he says he is incredibly proud to have done. Excited that audiences will get to see what they have been working on in less than a month, Benedict took to social media to address something that’s been widely discussed online ever since the film’s teasers began to drop. Will it be appropriate for children to watch Toxic given that there are scenes of sexual activity in it?

Taking to social media, Benedict set the record clear – Toxic is an adult film; its tagline is a Fairy Tale for Grown Ups. It is not made for children and doesn’t pretend to be. Having said that, the actor adds that what he finds more troublesome is that people seem to be okay with the graphic violence in the film, but not with consensual sex between adults.
“In the teaser, you see brutal violence, you see blood and you see a man getting his head cut off with a chainsaw – nobody blinks; nobody asks if this is too much for an 8-year-old. But you show two consenting adults in a sexual situation and suddenly it’s outrage. Why? We seem to be completely okay watching people slaughter each other on screen but we are uncomfortable watching two human beings connecting in the most natural way possible,” Benedict said in a video he posted online.
Violence, he adds, is acceptable entertainment, whereas sex is moral panic. “Culturally, we treat sex like it is more dangerous than decapitation. If you child can watch someone get dismembered, but you are worried they might see a consensual adult sexual activity, that says more about our conditioning than cinema,” he said, adding, “If your moral scale says beheading is fine, sex is scandal, then we don’t have a sex problem, we have a double standards and hypocrisy problem.”
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups is headed to theatres across the globe on March 19, 2026 in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and English. The film, led by Rocking Star Yash also stars Sudev Nair, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi, Kyle Paul, among others.
