Starring Anne Hathaway, the film follows a therapist, named Claire, who works with five survivors of a plane crash, helping them cope with their trauma. The movie revolves around the kidnapping of two young girls in Pennsylvania and the police hunt for the kidnapper. The father of one of the daughters intervenes after the police detain and then release a young suspect.

Hacksaw Ridge

Mel Gibson's 2016 biographical war movie Hacksaw Ridge is based on Terry Benedict's 2004 documentary The Conscientious Objector. The movie narrates the tale of Desmond Doss, a combat medic, who refused to carry or use a firearm. Doss is portrayed by renowned actor Andrew Garfield. At the 89th Academy Awards, the movie was nominated for six Oscars and took home the Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing prizes.

La La Land

Damien Chazelle is the writer and director of the 2016 musical romantic comedy-drama La La Land. Emma Stone plays an ambitious actress, while Ryan Gosling is a struggling jazz pianist. They meet in Los Angeles and fall in love. Lionsgate released La La Land in theaters across the United States on December 9. The movie was a huge commercial success, making $472 million worldwide. The film was highly praised by critics, especially for Chazelle's screenplay and direction, as well as for Gosling and Stone's performances. It continued to win multiple awards, including six at the 89th Academy Awards.

Knives Out

In the 2019 film, Daniel Craig plays private investigator Benoit Blanc, who is called in to look into the death of best-selling author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). Despite the police ruling that Harlan's death was a suicide, Blanc believes there was foul play and looks into several hints and false red herrings to determine the real cause of death. Starring as John Wick, Keanu Reeves is a hitman who decides to take revenge on the men who killed his dog which was a gift from his late wife. Critics praised John Wick's action scenes and style in general. The movie was also lauded for its portrayal of the criminal underworld.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, the 2013 heist movie is the debut installment in the Now You See Me series. Morgan Freeman, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Melanie Laurent, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Michael Caine are among the ensemble cast members in the movie. The story revolves around an FBI agent and an Interpol detective who track down and try to prosecute a group of magicians who rob banks and take money from their audiences while performing.

The Age of Adaline

2015 saw the release of the romantic fantasy film The Age of Adaline, which was directed by Lee Toland Krieger. Blake Lively plays Adaline in the movie, which also stars Harrison Ford, Ellen Burstyn, Michiel Huisman, Kathy Baker, and Amanda Crew. The story, narrated by Hugh Ross, centers on Adaline Bowman, who after an accident at age 29, ceases to age. Both Lively and Ford's performances were highly praised by many critics, who called it their best recent work.
