After Tiger 3, the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe, War 2 is among the most anticipated flicks. Ayan Mukerji will direct the film, with Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as Kabir and Jr. NTR playing the main antagonist. Kiara Advani will play the female lead in the espionage thriller. Meanwhile, the Tiger 3 climax offered a glimpse of War 2.

War 2 release date revealed

As per reports in Pinkvilla, War 2 has a release date. The film is scheduled for release during the Independence Day 2025 weekend. The film will be released on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

On Kartik Aaryan's birthday, Karan Johar announced their first collaboration, co-produced by Ektaa R. Kapoor and helmed by Sandeep Modi.

Ayan Mukerji takes the helm for War 2 in YRF Spy Universe

Talking about War 2, this is the first time Ayan is helming a non-Dharma Production film and directing a film without Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. Talking about the same, a source told Variety, "Aditya Chopra is choosing the captain of the ship for each YRF spy universe film strategically. Ayan has delivered big hits that appeal to all audience segments and have the pulse of Indian audiences. He has shown that he knows how to mount a film on a huge scale, which is essential for someone to direct War 2. Plus, he is a young filmmaker who can bring a different kind of newness to the spy universe. Ayan will have his unique take on how to make an epic action spectacle with War 2. Aditya Chopra trusts him to take the franchise forward."

Meanwhile, the international entertainment portal also reported that in War 2, NTR Jr. and Hrithik Roshan square off, and viewers can prepare themselves to be blown away. On the big screen, their intellectual duel and violent confrontation will undoubtedly be an action extravaganza to remember. This is a brilliant plan by Aditya Chopra that will make War 2 the most commercially successful Hindi film of all time. The presence of their adored idol should make South India come alive and connect with the film on a more emotional level.
