Two days after he was acquitted in the sensational actress attack case in Kerala, Malayalam actor Dileep has released the trailer of his upcoming film Bha Bha Ba. The film, which is set to release in theatres on December 18, 2025, features superstar Mohanlal in an extended cameo. But the trailer has met with mixed reactions (as expected), as some are hailing his big ‘comeback’ while others insist that it is not possible to separate the art from artiste.

Dileep, Mohanlal in Bha Bha Ba trailer

Like most of his recent outings, the Bha Bha Ba trailer begins with a voiceover of Dileep stating that everyone would know him as his face is plastered all over the place.Vineeth Sreenivasan and a team of cops are seen listening to the audio recording as the trailer cuts to show Dileep. Joemon Jyothir then candidly explains how to bash up a person, even as we see visuals of cars getting blown up as Dileep's character goes all out on firing mode.

Salim Kumar is also seen in the trailer, appearing in his advocate Mukund Unni avatar from Dileep's Meesha Madhavan and reminding Vineeth Sreenivasan that he is the original. For the unversed, Vineeth played the titular role in the film Mukundan Unni Associates.

Amid scenes featuring the police and politicians, we see a slew of actors, including Baiju, Balu Varghese, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Lokah actor Sandy Masters, Maniyanpilla Raju, Saranya Ponvannan, Ashokan, and Devan, among others. Tall claims about a comeback are being made by Dileep’s character as the cops seek to round him up. This sets the stage for the entry of Mohanlal, as a voiceover tells audiences that Dileep’s character and his annan (brother-like figure) pulled off wild things. Combination scenes of Mohanlal and Dileep are shown, as the trailer ends with the superstar humming Tamil actor Vijay’s Ghilli song ‘Intha Nada poduma, innam konjam vennama’.

Bha Bha Ba trailer reactions

There are a lot of meta references in the Bha Bha Ba trailer, which seems to have gone all out to get viewers’ attention. While Dileep fans have been hailing the trailer as a peak theatre experience, others have said that they would not watch the film in cinemas. Notably even Mohanlal fans have said they would boycott the film in theatres, choosing to side with the supporter in the assault case.

It is not just the allegations against Dileep, the trailer also drew flak for its quality, with some pointing out the hairdo of characters in Bha Bha Ba, saying these look in poor taste. Bha Bha B is helmed by Dhananjay Shankar, marking his directorial debut. Dileep was last seen in Prince and Family, streaming on Zee5 via OTTplay Premium
