It was only fitting that the makers of Mammootty’s gangster thriller would release the trailer of their much-anticipated movie, without any noise or announcements at midnight on Thursday – as a sign of respect to two of Mollywood stalwarts, Nedumudi Venu and KPAC Lalitha, who passed away on Tuesday night.

The trailer of the Amal Neerad directorial gives us a glimpse into the world of Mammootty’s character Michael and his family, and the dire situation they would be facing. It establishes that Michael is the patriarch of the family – something that doesn’t go down well with the younger generation essayed by Shine Tom Chacko and Farhaan Faasil.

While you do see a bit of friction between the members of the family, they also seem to be facing a threat from outside with Sudev Nair’s character Rajan and his gang entering the fray. The trailer is packed with memorable ‘mass’ dialogues which one has come to expect from Amal’s films – right from his debut venture Big B.

The teaser, which was out earlier this month, also revealed that Michael had a dark past that he has somehow shrugged off. The trailer draws into Michael’s current position in the family and society, while also hinting that he would revisit his past to protect his family from the new threat they are facing.

The final shot of the trailer, however, isn’t a ‘mass’ scene from Mammootty or a punch dialogue; in fact, it features two legends – Nedumudi Venu and KPAC Lalitha – in their final outing together. Venu plays Iravipilla while Lalitha essays the character of Karthiyayaniamma in the drama-thriller, set in the 1980s.

Bheeshma Parvam, which also has Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Anagha, Veena Nandakumar and Dileesh Pothan, is set to hit theatres worldwide on March 3. The movie marks the first collaboration between Amal and Mammootty after a gap of 15 years.
