Bholaa Shankar, the Telugu remake of Vedalam, opened to disastrous reviews all over yesterday. Chiranjeevi headlined the film, adapted and directed by Meher Ramesh, also starring Keerthy Suresh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sushanth. The film was produced by Anil Sunkara under AK Entertainments. Mahati Swara Sagar scored the music for the action entertainer.

The film’s theatricals are valued at Rs 90 crore and it needs to perform exceedingly well at the box office to ensure break even/profits for buyers. While the actioner collected Rs 18 crore on day one on the whole. It garnered Rs 4.52 crore in the Nizam region (Telangana) and Rs 11 crore in Andhra Pradesh. The entertainer made nearly Rs 1.9 crore across international territories.

In Guntur alone, the earnings were over Rs 2 crore, closely followed by West Godavari and Uttarandhra regions - at around Rs 1. 8 crore each. Across ceded areas, the collections are estimated to be Rs 1. 65 crore with East Godavari earnings touching Rs 1.30 crore. The film earned Rs 1 crore and Rs 71 lakh in Krishna district and Nellore respectively.

Across areas beyond Telugu states in India, Bholaa Shankar could only amass Rs 80 lakh. The occupancy was impressive in areas like Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, Guntur and Vijayawada. The producer of the film faced some legal trouble prior to the release owing to an issue regarding a deal about Akhil Akkineni’s film Agent distribution rights. For now, the court has dismissed the case.

Other trivia

Sreemukhi, Getup Srinu, Uttej, Tarun Arora, Raghu Babu, Murali Sharma, Ravi Shankar, Vennela Kishore, Tulasi, Bithiri Sathi, Satya, Rashmi Gautham are part of the supporting cast. The film will be out on Netflix post its theatrical run in the second half of September. Chiranjeevi is next working on the Telugu remake of Bro Daddy and a fantasy film directed by Bimbisara maker Mallidi Vassishta.
