Bigg Boss Kannada 12: Speculation galore about tentative contestants as grand opening date is set

It was during Season 10 of Bigg Boss Kannada that rumours began swirling that the host, Kiccha Sudeep was apparently unhappy with the toxic and brutal tonality of the show. It was said that Sudeep was considering stepping down from hosting duties, but then he returned for Season 11 too, which was also at the centre of several controversies, especially owing to the Heaven and Hell concept. Viewers felt that the focus was on creating rifts and tensions between contestants, than balanced content, which was evident from the choice of participants.

While Sudeep has never questioned the selection of contestants, he was vocal about the lack of appreciation for his efforts to ensure the show goes on without a hitch, week-on-week, even during difficult times, like the loss of his mother. He’d announced his decision to quit after Season 11, which he did not hold on for very long. The channel was able to convince him to return for not 1 but 4 more seasons and on his birthday on September 2, they announced the official start date of Season 12; it kicks off on September 28.

Ever since Sudeep’s return was confirmed, hardcore fans of the show began speculation about the contestants for Season 12, considering that the showrunners would have to up their game to keep the host happy. Some of the names that have repeatedly come up on social media include Spandana Somanna, Bhoomika Ramesh, Gilli Nata, Swathi, Sudha Rani, Sagar Biligowda, Sri Mahadev, Dr Bro, Archana Jois, Coffee Naadu Chandu, Varsha Kaveri, Sanjana Burli, Sameer MD, Divya Vasanth, Gagan Srinivas, Shwetha Prasad, Arvind Rathan, Gagana Bari, Vijay Surya, Deepika Gowda, Meghaa Shetty, Dhanush and Singer Sunil, among others.

Given that much of this speculation has come from handles that have, in the past, correctly predicted the contestants on the show, rest assured that at least some of these names will make it to the show this time. Sudeep, meanwhile, is currently bang in the midst of shooting his next, Mark, directed by Max maker Vijay Kartikeyaa, which will be in theatres for Christmas. Sudeep is set to wrap it up by October end, for which he had requested the showrunners of Bigg Boss Kannada 12 to postpone the start date by 3-4 weeks.
