Bigg Boss Kannada 12: When and where to watch grand opening of Kiccha Sudeep hosted reality show

The much-awaited 12th season of Bigg Boss Kannada is only days away. Kiccha Sudeep is back in the saddle as host of the popular reality show, after temporarily distancing himself from it at the end of Season 11. As announced earlier, Bigg Boss Kannada 12 (BBK12) is scheduled to begin on September 28. The show will kick off with a grand opening on Saturday, which will begin at 6 pm on Colors Kannada, with the live stream on JioHotstar (also on OTTplay Premium). Thereafter, the daily episodes will be at 9.30 pm.

Bigg Boss Kannada and Bigg Boss Tamil are the only two left to get started, what with Bigg Boss (Hindi), Bigg Boss Telugu and Bigg Boss Malayalam, with Salman Khan, Nagarjuna and Mohanlal, respectively, already underway. The Kannada show was delayed owing to Sudeep’s hectic shooting schedule. The actor’s on a deadline to finish his next film, Mark, by the end of October to have it in theatres for Christmas 2025.

Why did Sudeep leave Bigg Boss Kannada briefly

Following the negativity surrounding the show in the last 2 seasons, the showrunners have promised a clean-up of sorts, with a set of new contestants, a new house and a format that should have audiences expecting the unexpected. Ever since former showrunner Paramesh Gundkal left, audiences have been complaining about the rapidly depreciating quality of the show, whether it is in the choice of contestants, the atmosphere in the house, conflicts between contestants, etc.

In that time, Sudeep was also seen mostly on Bigg Boss or playing cricket with the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup or Celebrity Cricket League, which prompted his fans to urge him to leave the show. Issues with the quality of Bigg Boss Kannada were seen as an added impetus. Eventually, during Season 11, Sudeep said it would be his final season as the host of the show that he’s handled since the start. He was given an emotional farewell during the grand finale as well.

The showrunners were, however, able to convince him to returns and have signed him on for a 4-year contract, which will see him through Season 15. A substantial payment increase is also seen as reason for Sudeep’s return to the fold.
