Bigg Boss Tamil 9: Confirmed contestants of this season enter house; Praveen Gandhi, Ramya Joo, Aurora Sinclair, Diwakar grab attention

The ninth season of Bigg Boss Tamil has kickstarted. With Vijay Sethupathi returning as host, the show began with the house tour, and introduction of contestants. The house is styled in Egyptian style as the captain gets a separate and luxurious room for themselves. Meanwhile, following the usual format, Vijay Sethupathi introduced the contestants. Each of them get to choose between a red and blue badge. The list of contestants this season are:

Diwakar:

Popularly known as Watermelon Star, Diwakar is a doctor-turned-aspiring actor. He is known for his acting videos on social media platforms. “There were many tests and levels to be passed before entering the show,” he said. Diwakar is the first contestant to enter the show this season, as Vijay Sethupathi says he has never seen any contestant this low of encouragement. Diwakar requested Vijay Sethupathi if he can act in front of the latter, to which the host says it is not the stage for that. Diwakar chooses red badge.

Aurora Sinclair:

Aurora Sinclair is the second contestant to enter this season. A social media personality and budding actor, Aurora is known for her modelling and has been doing it for past four years. As she says she is ‘picky’ with friends and has only one close one, Aurora said, “Bigg Boss came when I was in school, and when I got the opportunity, I couldn’t say no.” Riya, a former Bigg Boss contestant cheered up her friend, and said, “Whatever she does inside the house, people will direct it towards me. FJ

FJ says he is an ‘extrovert to the core’ and aspires to enter cinema. With an interest in rap, and calling Hiphop Tamizha fan, he soon began acting and starred in Suzhal: The Vortex. A beatboxer as well, FJ says that he will be active inside the house and even learnt cooking before entering Bigg Boss. FJ chooses red badge.

VJ Parvathy

VJ Parvathy, a Madurai born, is a known television anchor. Coming from a family of lawyer, Parvathy credits her mother for her upbringing and went on to become a journalism student. As she describes herself ‘bold’, Parvathy says she likes to ask and discuss topics openly on public forum. An avid traveller, Parvathy says that Bigg Boss will be an opportunity for people to get to know her and understand her thinking. Tushaar

Tushaar is student of business management and a social media personality. Having Singaporean ancestry, Tushaar recognises himself as Pudukottai boy even as his facial features often make people not recognise him as Tamilian. He calls himself as ‘social butterfly', and is fan of Simbu and Sivakarthikeyan. He aspires to be an actor and wishes Bigg Boss Tamil would be a stepping stone for his ambition. Kani Thiru

Kani Thiru, who was seen in series Parachute, and winner of Cooku With Comali show, is one of the contestants. As audience call her ‘kaara kuzhambu Kani akka’, she says that her world is her family and small. Sister of actor Viji of Chennai 600028 fame, Kani is a home body and wife of director Thiru. She awaits what’s in store in Bigg Boss, as she says that she wants to throw the fear and pursue the game show anticipating surprises. Kani chooses red badge.

Sabari

Sabari is Salem native and a television actor. Coming from a humble and small family, Sabari calls her sister as important part of his life who sacrificed her education for him. Sabari has faced his own share of struggles, and starred in Velaikkaran serial. Praveen Gandhi

Praveen Gandhi is a filmmaker who most famously made the Nagarjuna and Sushmitha Sen starrer Ratchagan. Aadhirai 

Aadhirai says she takes time to get along with unfamiliar people. A cinema lover, Aadhirai played a small role in Bigil. But as one among the affected due to Covid pandemic, she had to return home and then continue with television serials. Having led hostel life for long, Aadhirai hopes to connect with audience through the show. Aadhirai has tried for Bigg Boss for last four years and want to achieve big in cinema. Ramya Joo

Ramya Joo has two sisters and says that she was brought up in an orphanage. With difficult childhood, and having worked as junior artiste, Ramya Joo is a dancer and stage show performer. She aspires to enter Bigg Boss for the sheer happiness to be around people as family. Promising to be serious about the game, Ramya Joo says the Bigg Boss trophy is important for her. Gaana Vinoth

A Gaana singer who often sings songs taking a dig at Bigg Boss show, Vinoth Kumar is a Chennai-based artist. He says that Gaana is people's music and uses the form to spread messages that he wants to tell. Vinoth chooses blue badge.

Viyana

Viyana is an aspiring actor and calls herself a mischievous person. With modelling as background, Viyana says that her game will not have strategy but will be like a wave, with ups and downs. With a presence on social media, Viyana chooses red badge.

Praveen Raj Dev

Praveen, a Karnataka Tamilian, has interest in singing and acting. He has come to Tamil Nadu with hopes to fuel his passion in cinema. He says that despite body-shaming, that did not deter him to join the industry. Praveen has worked in television serials like Raja Rani, Bharathi Kannama and Iramana Roja.
