Celebrated writer and storyteller Bava Chelladurai was one of the 18 contestants who entered the Bigg Boss Tamil season 8 earlier this month. Just after spending a week, Bava Chelladurai has quit the show, hosted by Kamal Haasan, citing poor health.
Bava Chelladurai made an unconventional request to the Bigg Boss in the conference room. He claimed that he could not handle the pressure any longer and that he wanted to leave the show immediately. Chelladurai's determination to leave the show halfway showed no room for negotiation.
"I can't stay any longer here. I will not take part in any activity," declared the 61-year-old writer, while speaking in the confession room.

He also complained of chest pain and poor health as one of the reasons for his decision to quit the show. "There's no place for reconsideration. I want to leave the show right away," he claimed.
Finally, the showrunners relented and agreed to let Chelladurai go. This is the first time in the history of the show in Tamil that a contestant has been allowed to walk out. The contestants have a contractual obligation to spend about 100 days in the house. They can only leave the show through the elimination process or evicted by the showrunners for any violation of house rules.

Bigg Boss asked Chelladurai to exit the house even without informing their fellow housemates. Bigg Boss noted that Chelladurai's presence in the house would have added great value to the show. Chelladurai seemed to have regrets about not seeing through his journey in the house till the end. Yet, he was in no mood to continue on the show.
Last week, Ananya Rao became the first contestant to get eliminated . With Chelladurai's unexpected exit, 16 contestants are remaining in the house.
