Bison box office collection day 2: Mari Selvaraj and Dhruv Vikram film shows slow growth amid Dude’s leading earnings

Bison, the Tamil sports drama directed by Mari Selvaraj and starring Dhruv Vikram in the lead role, is one of the Diwali releases this weekend. Coming from a filmmaker whose films have never fell short of critics' praise and featuring a young talent, Bison's performance at the box office has been lukewarm. The film has made Rs 5 crore so far in two days.

Bison day 2 box office collection report:

Bison is a sports drama, and much like other Mari Selvaraj films, this too talks about the people from his land and what he had witnessed in his life. Based on the life of kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan, Bison released in theatres on October 17 and opened to good reviews. The film has made Rs 5.71 crore at the box office in India, as per Sacnilk report.

The film made about Rs 2.5 crore on first day followed by a slight increase and Rs 3.1 crore on the second day. Bison will be banking on word of mouth, and with the Diwali holidays to follow, is expected to perform well. Bison also faces tough competition from Pradeep Ranganathan’s romantic entertainer Dude, which is also sharing screens and leading the Tamil box office race.

Bison: What is it all about?

Bison revolves around Kittan, a youngster from Vanathi village who strives to be a kabaddi player and represent his country. However, the society that he lives in is built in a way to be corrupt, oppressive and discriminative. The rest of the film is about how Kittan achieves his dreams. The film also stars Ameer, Lal, Pasupathy, Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan and others.

The post-theatrical streaming rights of Bison have been bagged by Netflix which will stream the film after its theatrical run. The film, which is co-produced by Pa Ranjith, has music by Nivas K Prasanna.
