Music director Santhosh Narayanan is the latest to shower praises on the recently released Tamil film Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram. The film is helmed by Mari Selvaraj with Pa Ranjith as one of the producers. With the film receiving good reviews, the latest appreciation comes from music composer Santhosh Narayanan, who has worked with both Mari and Ranjith earlier.
In a long post on X, Santhosh Narayanan, a close associate of both Mari Selvaraj and Pa Ranjith, recalled back in 2011 when a ‘soft spoken revolutionary film maker’ and himself stood helpless with dreams and tears for a ‘future with almost zero chances’. But cut to 2018, Santhosh called the filmmaker (Pa Ranjith) one of the country’s best, who produces ‘one of the best Tamil films of all time’, referencing Mari Selvaraj’s debut film Pariyerum Perumal.
“Director Ram sir and I stood in tears watching the film hoping it would be accepted by all. The film shakes the political system and wins big. A new legend in direction is born,” Santhosh said.
The cut to 2025 again, Santhosh said that Mari and Ranjith meet again, now with ‘tons of baggage on their heads’. He wrote, “They are both constantly accused of playing caste politics, targeted at every little slip, constantly patronised to do other things and so on. Then comes Bison Kaalamaadan - a true peak into what these 2 revolutionaries want to see in this beautiful world. I watched the film with tears of hope and am so proud of you my dearest babies.”
Santhosh recalled how Ranjith hugged Mari after the show and said it is “a testament to what you should always remain as Ranjith.”
“Yes I argue a lot with you and constantly get agitated with certain things personally with the only intention of keeping the goal unchanged. Bison was a warm hug to me. Dhruv, you did so well in this one man. It felt like all of cinema conspired to bless you with this.” The music director also praised Dhruv Vikram’s performance and how he is proud of him.

Bison, a kabaddi-based sports drama, made an opening of Rs 2.5 crore at the box office. The film also stars Pasupathy, Lal, Ameer, Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan and others. Bison’s post-theatrical streaming rights are with Netflix.
