One of the much-awaited films this year is Ajith's AK 61 (tentative title) which is being directed and produced by Vinoth and Boney Kapoor respectively. The team's Valimai (streaming on Zee5) had hit the screens earlier this year. There have been reports that AK 61 will be released in theatres on Deepavali.
Though the film's shooting is yet to be wrapped up, Boney has hinted that the movie has all chances of hitting screens in 2022 while speaking at the audio launch of Veetla Vishesham. The RJ Balaji-starrer, which has also been bankrolled by the veteran producer, will release on June 17.
During his speech, Boney recollected his journey and spoke briefly about his long association with Kollywood. He was all praise for Urvashi, who plays a crucial character in the film, and reminisced about the prediction he had made long ago with regard to the actress' longevity in the industry. He also revealed that Sridevi had the highest regard for Urvashi.
Heaping praise on Tamil film industry, Boney said that it has always been an organized and disciplined industry when compared to Bollywood, and added that Kollywood has contributed a lot to his life personally and professionally.
According to him, Veetla Vishesham, the remake of Badhaai Ho (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar), has shaped up well, and it has more chances of connecting with the audience when compared to the original. He said, "Like the Hindi version, the Tamil version, too, features a host of talented actors. The magical element in Tamil is even better than the Bollywood version."
Veetla Vishesham is Boney's 52nd movie as a producer. He said that his plan is to produce at least 100 movies and that he has a long way to go to achieve the feat.
