Border 2: Sonam Bajwa to pair alongside Diljit Dosanjh in Sunny Deol's film | Exciting details inside

Border 2 is one of the most anticipated films that has been garnering attention ever since it was announced. Starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh, the film is expected to be a solid action flick. Now, as per a recent report, Sonam Bajwa has joined the cast of Border 2. 

Sonam Bajwa joins Border 2

As per Pinkvilla, Sonam Bajwa has joined the cast of Border 2. She will begin shooting for the film by the end of June. Sonam is set to play a strong-headed Punjabi Girl in the film. 

“Sonam Bajwa is paired alongside Diljit Dosanjh in Border 2. Much like Border, her character has a strong emotional arc, and her dynamics with Diljit will stand-out as one of the major highlights, alongside the war sequences and the Indo-Pak conflict,” revealed a source.

On the other hand, the source further mentioned that the makers have started shooting with Diljit Dosanjh in Pune. The shooting of Border 2 will continue from June to mid-August, with the lead actors - Sunny, Varun, Diljit, Ahan Shetty, and Sonam - all shooting together. "The makers will be locking one more top female actor to play the parts alongside Varun and the casting is presently underway,” the source added.

Details about Border 2 characters

Earlier in a new podcast, Diljit Dosanjh shared that he will portray the role of Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, an officer in the Indian Air Force, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan will reportedly play the role of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a Param Vir Chakra Awardee. He was also promoted to Colonel in 1976 after the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

The source further mentioned, “Apart from holding look sessions with designer Sheetal Sharma, Varun met Indian officers, celebrated Army Day with them and [in conversations] tried to gain a deeper understanding of their lives."

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol will be playing a soldier in the sequel, which is reported to be inspired by the 1999 Kargil War, as per reports. 

Border 2 is directed by Kesari-fame director Anurag Singh and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The film is set to release in the theatres on January 23, 2026.
