Border 2, the sequel to JP Dutta's Border (1997), is one of the most-awaited films. Starring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Varun Dhawan in the lead roles, the film has been making headlines and garnering significant buzz since the announcement. While fans eagerly wait for updates, in a new interview, Diljit gave details about his character for Border 2.
Border 2 markers have not shared details about the actors' roles in the movie. However, in a new podcast, Diljit Dosanjh revealed that he will step into the shoes of Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, an officer in the Indian Air Force, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. It will be interesting to watch how Diljit portrays the role of the IAF officer.
The source revealed, “Diljit is currently shooting for the Punjabi film, Sardaarji 3, in Scotland. He will begin his prep for Border 2 by March-end. Anurag has charted out a 20-day, start-to-finish schedule for him. They will shoot the talkie portions at the Bombay Flying Club in Juhu. The wide-angle shots will be filmed in Kashmir, where replicas of the Folland Gnat fighter aircraft will be used and the Srinagar air base recreated.”
Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon was an officer of the Indian Air Force. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration during the war, in recognition of his sole defense of the Srinagar Air Base against air strikes by the Pakistan Air Force during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. He was stationed at the Srinagar air base on December 14, 1971, when it was attacked by six Pakistan Air Force F-86 jets.
Initially, the film was set to go on floors on November 25 in Jammu and Kashmir following a massive action sequence involving Sunny Deol, Diljit, and Varun Dhawan. The war drama—which sees the four leads play officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force will be shot across real locations in north India.
Border 2 is directed by Kesari fame director Anurag Singh and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.
