Box office: Bholaa Shankar out of theatres, Jailer nears Rs 50 crores, Mr Pregnant sees decent occupancy, Prem Kumar is a disaster

Bholaa Shankar was supposed to take the lead among all last week's releases but that did not happen and other films dominated the Chiranjeevi starrer. The action drama was released on August 11, 2023, with a bang but started with a very bad of mouth. 

Apart from making Rs 23 crores on day one, Bholaa Shankar fell flat on day two itself and is out of several theatres already which is a shame for a star like Chiranjeevi. Well, the flop of Bholaa Shankar helped the other release Jailer big time. Rajini's film, Jailer was released a day earlier on August 10, 2023, and started with just a moderate talk.

Once the news came out that Bholaa Shankar has flopped, the occupancy picked up for Jailer and there has been no looking back for the film ever since. The action drama has made a record Rs 48 crore and is nearing the coveted Rs 50 crore mark in the next two days. Jailer is one of the biggest hits in Telugu for Rajinikanth and it is still seeing decent collections all over the Telugu states.

On the other hand, a film named Mr. Pregnant was also released on August 18, 2023, and earned decent reviews. As word of mouth was decent, the occupancy grew for this film over the weekend. But the film has no takers on a key Monday but the makers are happy as they have recovered the money invested. Sohel played a pregnant man in this film.

This week's other release, Prem Kumar featuring Santosh Soban has absolutely no takers and sank on the first day itself. The film was removed from several theaters on Sunday itself giving an idea of how big a flop it is.

This week, on August 25th, Varun Tej is gearing up with the release of his new film Gandeevadhari Arjuna. On the same day, yet another popular hero, Karthikeya is gearing up with his new film Bedurulanka 2012. The film has Neha Sshetty as the female lead.
