For more than a year now, people have been patiently waiting to know who plays Dev in Brahmastra Part 2. The climax of the first installment teased that the sequel would focus on the menacing character who plays the father of Ranbir Kapoor's Shiva. There have been several reports making the rounds about who will play Dev, and now rumours have it that Ranveer Singh has been finalised to play the anticipated iconic role.
Ranveer Singh opposite Deepika Padukone in Brahmastra Part 2: Dev
According to a report in News18, RS is likely to play the role opposite Deepika Padukone, who will portray Amrita in Brahmastra Part 2: Dev, instead of Hrithik Roshan or Yash. Meanwhile, the portal also reported that part two is now in the scripting stages, with a projected 2025 release date. Ranveer will start filming Baiju Bawra next year, while Ayan is currently occupied with War 2. The release date of Brahmastra 2 is thus still up in the air.
Earlier this year, Ayan said that Brahmastra Part 2 is likely to release in December 2026 and the third part exactly a year after. The filmmaker had shared that he will be making both films together and also allowing them to release closer to each other, although it's a gap of a year.
Ranveer Singh's busy schedule
Ranveer is scheduled to start filming Baiju Bawra, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in the middle of 2024, according to a source. Initial plans indicated that both Don 3 and Brahmastra 2 would commence production in early 2025. Probably, Ranveer will film Don 3 before Brahmastra 2.
If reports turn out to be true, interestingly, this will be the first time two real-life couples—Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh—will come together on screen.
Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva which was released in September 2022. The film also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shah Rukh Khan, and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles.
