As reported earlier, Mammootty is set to play the role of Kunjamon Potti, a mysterious man who belongs to an aristocratic family in rural Kerala.

Both the name of the veteran actor’s character and his look in the film left the Malayalam cinema audiences curious. Some Malayalam literature lovers even speculated that Kunjamon Potti is based on a popular character from the much-celebrated Aithihyamala and Kadamattathu Kathanar story. In a recent interview with Radio Asia, director Rahul Sadasivan finally addressed the speculations and made some exciting revelations about Bramayugam.

Mammootty’s character in Bramayugam has no connection with Kadamattathu Kathanar

Director Rahul Sadasivan, who recently had a chat with Radio Asia, brushed off the reports on the connection between the worlds of Bramayugam and Kadamattathu Kathanar. The talented filmmaker confirmed that Mammootty’s Kunjamon Potti is an entirely fictional character and has no connection with the Kadamattathu Kathanar story, or Aithihyamala. He also revealed that the upcoming project is a full-fledged suspense thriller that is set in a fictional space.

Bramayugam is a suspense thriller with horror elements

Interestingly, Rahul Sadasivan also added that Bramayugam is not a complete horror film, as reported earlier. According to the director, it is more of a suspense thriller film that has elements of horror. He further added that audiences over the age of 13 can watch the film without inhibitions. The project is set in a period era, and that is the reason why it is made in a black-and-white format.
