Malayalam superstar Mammootty's highly-awaited movie Bramayugam opened in cinemas worldwide on Thursday. We can now officially confirm that, after completing its theatrical run, Bramayugam will become available for streaming on SonyLIV.

When will Bramayugam arrive on OTT?

In line with current industry trends, new South Indian movies, including those in Malayalam, typically make their streaming debut after completing a four-week exclusive theatrical run. However, Mammootty has previously shown a willingness to extend the theatrical window for his movies compared to his contemporaries.

For instance, Mammootty's Kannur Squad had its OTT release after seven weeks, while his previous movie, Kaathal The Core, took over 40 days to arrive on streaming, allowing for an extended opportunity at the box office. Notably, Mammootty has resisted shorter OTT release windows for these movies because he also served as the producer. However, it's worth mentioning that he has not produced Bramayugam.

At this point, the contractual obligations between the producers of Bramayugam and their streaming partner remain unknown.

Bramayugam promises a memorable horror thriller

Bramayugam has been released in theatres across the world amid a lot of expectations. The movie caught the imaginations of the cinephiles cinephiles when the filmmakers unveiled a captivating first-look poster, showcasing Mammootty's unique character appearance.

In Bramayugam, Mammootty plays a middle-aged man sporting a devilish grin. The subsequent teasers and trailers shedding more light on the sinister atmosphere of the movie further enhanced the curiosity among cinema patrons.

Mammootty earlier revealed that Bramayugam is set against the backdrop of 18th-century Kerala . He also requested fans to watch the movie with an open mind without any preconceived notion to fully experience the director's unique vision.

Judging from the trailer, the film promises to provide a rich and profound exploration of life's challenges within the eerie frames of a horror story. Reports suggest that the movie revolves around the evils of witchcraft, with Mammootty likely essaying the role of a malevolent sorcerer.

Written and directed by Rahul Sadasivan, Bramayugam also stars Arjun Ashokan, Sidharth Bharathan, Amalda Liz and others.
