Mammootty, the megastar of Malayalam cinema stunned the cine-goers with his performance in the recently released period horror thriller, Bramayugam. The movie, which is helmed by Rahul Sadasivan, features the veteran actor in the role of Kudamon Potti, a mysterious man who lives in a crumbling mansion. The National Award-winner stunned the audiences with his transformation as Potti in the film.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Bramayugam director Rahul Sadasivan revealed that Mammootty was the only choice for the role of Kudamon Potti. Interestingly, the filmmaker also revealed that he wanted to break the glamorous perception about the megastar, with the period horror thriller. The filmmaker also revealed how he gained the confidence to approach the veteran actor for the project.

Breaking Mammmootty’s glamorous image with Bramayugam

According to director Rahul Sadasivan, his idea was to break the glamorous image of Mammootty with Bramayugam, by showing a never-seen-before side of the veteran actor. The director wanted to take up the challenge of showing the megastar, who is well-known for his unmatched good looks, as an old man who has a mysterious aura. Rahul visualised Kudamon Potti as someone who looks and behaves in a certain way and was always sure that only Mammootty could do justice to the character.

Approaching Mammootty for Bramayugam

Interestingly, Rahul Sadasivan also revealed that he gained the confidence to approach Mammootty for an experimental film like Bramayugam, from the megastar’s films from the 80s and 90s. According to the talented filmmaker, he was quite sure that the legendary actor will be open to an experimental film like this, as he has always been open to new ideas. Rahul also pointed out that Mammootty was experimenting with his films and roles right from the beginning of his career and has worked with several new directors and writers.

The Bramayugam director further added that Mammootty was highly excited to be a part of the project, and it continued throughout the filming process. Rahul Sadasivan also revealed that the megastar was very happy with the final outcome and loved the film. Well, it is not just the megastar and team, but the cine-goers across the globe have been showering love on Bramayugam, which is now on its way to entering the Rs. 60 crore club at the worldwide box office.
