Producer KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green has confirmed that director Vetrimaaran will be reuniting for the fifth time for a movie based on the Kolar gold mines. In a recent interview, Gnanavel noted that the filmmaker was working on the story set against the KGF backdrop while discussing his upcoming movie Thangalaan.

"Vetrimaaran sir is now working on a film based on KGF with Dhanush in the lead. And he will do a film based on his research and findings about its history. And Pa Ranjith has done Thangalaan based on the research he did on the subject," Gnanavel told Behindwoods.

However, Gnanavel did not reveal any information about the project's timeline or whether he will be bankrolling the movie. Nevertheless, this revelation has already caused a lot of excitement among the fans. Vetrimaaran has directed Dhanush in four movies, and the duo is expected to reunite for Vada Chennai 2, which is expected to be a trilogy.

Vetrimaaran and Dhanush are one of the blockbuster director-actor combos of Tamil cinema. Vetrimaaran has directed Dhanush so far in four movies, including Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai and Asuran. The duo are expected to reunite for Vada Chennai 2, which is touted to be a trilogy. Will the movie on KGF happen before Vada Chennai 2? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, Vetrimaaran has several movies in the pipeline, including Viduthalai Part 2. He has also committed Vaadi Vaasal with Tamil superstar Suriya. The pre-production work is going on for the movie and it is expected to hit the floors soon. Rumours have it that he has also signed Telugu superstar Jr NTR for a movie. A confirmation, however, is awaited.

Vetrimaaran is now basking in the success of Viduthalai Part 1 . Inspired by real-life events, the movie opened in cinemas in March. And the movie garnered polarising reactions. While some have praised the movie, others felt that it was not as powerful as Vetrimaaran's previous films.

Viduthalai Part 1 is now streaming on Zee5 and you can also watch it on OTTplay Premium .
