It was announced very long ago that Real Star Upendra would be seen on the big screen for the second time this year with Buddhivantha 2. The slightly ill-fated film, which is billed as the sequel to the 2008 superhit Buddhivantha, was scheduled to release in theatres on September 15. But, as it turns out, the makers are said to have deferred those plans owing to a rather bizarre reason.

According to the latest reports surfacing on social media, team Buddhivantha 2 has chosen to not release the film on September 15. The reason, apparently, is a 'tantrika dosha' and as a result, the release has been postponed indefinitely. However, one reckons that the sudden change in plans could be because of Upendra's insistence to not allow the film to meddle with his passion project UI, which is likely to release later this year.

It's highly unlikely now that the teaser of Buddhivantha 2, which is meant to come out on August 3, will be released as planned by the makers.

Netizens, too, feel that Buddhivantha 2 has very little relevance to the audience in the current context. One social media user, in response to this latest update, said that the makers of Kabzaa, too, should have limited the film's release to Karnataka, instead of opting to take it pan-India. Kabzaa, needless to say, did not fare well at the box office.

Buddhivantha 2 went on floors before the first lockdown in 2020 but one heard very little about its development over the years. Directed by Jaidhev, it also stars Sonal Monteiro, Meghana Raj Sarja and Srinagara Kitty.

On the other hand, fans are kicked about Upendra's return to the director's chair with UI. The actor-filmmaker, who has delivered several cult hits such as Shhh!, Om, A, Upendra and others as a director back in the '90s, has sporadically taken up the task of directing a film over the past few years. As a result, every directorial of his is received with a lot of anticipation by the fans.
