The second instalment of the Bunty Aur Babli found its new Bunny in Saif Ali Khan, instead of Abhishek Bachchan. After the movie was released on Friday, Saif and Rani Mukerji have been making many headlines with their back-to-back interviews. In a recent chat with News18, Saif opened up about the replacement.
The actor said that his Bunny has little to do with the role played by Abhishek in the prequel. He revealed that he was approached by producer Aditya Chopra, saying ‘things aren’t working out’, and they were not able to take the story forward with the original cast. He further said yes to the offer, to which the actor has a very pragmatic approach.
Saif also said that he wanted to renew the relationship with Yash Raj Films, since he has not worked with them after more than a decade. He pointed out that there were many reasons the collaboration didn’t happen for a decade, yet he was keen to have a fine working relationship with them, which was also one of the reasons he took up the chance.
Meanwhile, Rani mentioned how different the two films are from each other. She doesn’t find a point in comparing both of them, as she finds Bunty Aur Babli 2 very different from what was released in 2005. She talked about how people tend to do such comparisons to start a conversation on social media on a daily basis, in an interview with Spotboye.
Helmed by debutante Varun V Sharma, the movie also features Pankaj Tripathi, Yashpal Sharma, Asrani Gopal Datt, Prem Chopra, Lankesh Bhardwaj and Neeraj Sood, among others.
