Dhanush, who wrapped up Selvaraghavan's Naane Varuven recently, joined the sets of Tollywood filmmaker Venky Atluri's Vaathi. Tipped as a bilingual project, the film has Samyuktha Menon essaying the female lead. Dhanush will play a college teacher for the first time in his career in the movie.
He has Hollywood flick The Gray Man, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and Mithran Jawahar's Thiruchitrambalam in his kitty. The latter is expected to be the actor-turned-filmmaker's next release. The movie produced by Sun Pictures is expected to hit the screens in July. It will be Dhanush's theatrical release after Mari Selvaraj's Karnan.
Meanwhile, the actor is also gearing up for Arun Matheswaran's movie which is billed as an action film. It is heard that the project has been titled Captain Miller and that its story is set in the 1930s. There are unconfirmed reports doing the rounds that the movie is likely to be on the lines of Indiana Jones.
The project, we hear, is also being planned as a pan-Indian film. Though Arun's debut movie Rocky which released a few months ago in theatres did not make any noise at the box office, it received appreciation for cinematography, stunt choreography and editing.
His sophomore project, Saani Kaayidham, is set for a direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. The makers are yet to come up with an official release date, but it is expected that the action movie will drop on the digital platform soon.
Sathya Jyothi Films, which produced Dhanush's previous outing Maaran, is bankrolling the big budget movie. Dhanush had announced about the project on his Twitter page a few days after the release of Rocky. In his reply, Arun had thanked the actor for his trust on him and said that he's fortunate to have bagged the opportunity.
