Buzz: Lyca Productions to bankroll Ajith's AK 62; directors Vignesh, Sudha considered frontrunners

Even as Ajith's upcoming project, tentatively titled AK 61, is yet to go on floors, it looks like we have some news on his next outing, which is popularly referred to as AK 62. AK 61, directed by Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor, is expected to commence in Hyderabad later this month.

The names of Aditi Rao Hydari, Kavin, Prakash Raj and Tabu have been doing the rounds with regard to playing pivotal roles in the movie. It was heard that Mohanlal and Nagarjuna were approached for essaying the role of a cop as well. Ajith has been shedding a few kilos for the character he is playing in the movie, which is billed as a heist thriller.

The look which the star will be sporting for the project was leaked when a fan released a picture of him along with the actor. Later, a few pictures from the birthday event of Ajith's son went viral and his fans got to see a full glimpse of his new look.

Now, news coming from trustable sources suggest that Lyca Productions will be producing AK 62, and that it will go on floors later this year. The news doing the rounds is that the untitled movie is slated for a release for Deepavali 2023.

It is heard that Vignesh Shivan and Sudha Kongara are frontrunners to bag the project. Earlier, there was news that the latter is in talks with Ajith for a project. Vignesh last directed Thaana Serntha Kootam (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) and is ready with the multi-starrer Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal. 

Sudha's last outing was the critically acclaimed Soorarai Pottru (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). She was said to be in talks for a film with Silambarasan as well.
