Nayanthara had a direct-to-OTT release earlier this year; Milind Rau's Netrikann was released on Disney+ Hotstar a few months ago. Looks like she will have one more direct release next year if we are to go by the grapevine. It is heard that Oxygen, directed by debutant GK Viknesh, a former assistant to Venkat Prabhu, might skip the theatrical release.

The movie has been produced by SR Prabhu's Dream Warrior Pictures. Interestingly, Mookuthi Amman which was the actress' release before Netrikann, also had a direct release on Disney+ Hotstar. It is said that an announcement on the release of Oxygen on the digital platform can be expected soon.

Meanwhile, despite various speculation did the rounds on Nayanthara's Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal having a straight release on the streaming platform, the makers announced that the multi-starrer film will be a theatrical release a while ago. Though they mentioned December as the release date on its posters, the movie is said to be releasing only on February.

The film, starring Samantha and Vijay Sethupathi, too, in lead roles, is directed by Vignesh Shivan. It marks the reunion of the trio Vignesh, Vijay and Nayan after Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (streaming on MX Player, Jio Cinema and Sun NXT).

The actress has Godfather in Telugu, Gold in Malayalam, Connect in Tamil and the untitled Bollywood debut in which she will share screen presence with Shah Rukh Khan. The movie marks her third outing with director Atlee after Raja Rani (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) and Bigil (streaming on Amazon Prime Video).

Dream Warrior Pictures, on the other hand, is currently busy with three projects; one of them stars Samantha in the lead while the second one has Aishwaya Rajesh as the protagonist. The third project has Amala Akkineni making her comeback to Tamil after almost three decades.
