Neena Gupta’s intriguing career in the film industry might soon have a silver screen adaptation of its own. It was announced that the actress is in talks to develop her autobiography, Sach Kahun Toh, into a film.
In conversation with The Indian Express, the Badhaai Ho actress revealed that she had been approached by a person who was interested in adapting the book into a film. They had only had their first meeting as yet and the project was still in the initial stages at the moment.
On the question of who she would want to essay her role in the film, the veteran actress said that it did not matter who she wanted for the role. Ultimately, it was for the producers to decide. “I cannot interfere in it and I have not even thought about it yet,” she said.
Sach Kahun Toh was first published in 2021. The book traces Gupta’s life from her days in the National School of Drama, New Delhi and follows her life through her move to Mumbai, her acting days and raising her daughter, Masaba Gupta, as a single mother. The actress had talked about how the book took her almost two decades to complete.
On the acting front, Gupta will next be seen in the new season of Panchayat, which also features Jitendra Kumar and Raghubir Yadav. Gupta will be reprising her role as Manju Devi from the show’s first season. Panchayat season 2 will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from May 20.
The actress will also be seen in the second season of Masaba Masaba, which is based on the life of her daughter, designer Masaba Gupta. Both mother and daughter play fictionalised versions of themselves in the Netflix show.
