Buzz: Sun Pictures to bankroll Vikram's next; production team in talks with Pandiraj, Mari Selvaraj and Mithran

Vikram, who made his OTT debut with the recent release Mahaan, has a few projects in his kitty. His next theatrical release will be Ajay Gnanamuthu's Cobra which is set to hit the screens on May 26. Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan will be his next release; the multi-starrer will release on September 30 across the world.

There are reports that Dhruva Natchathiram, his long-delayed project directed by Gautham Menon, too, might release in theatres, if everything goes well. His next film is Pa Ranjith's untitled movie which will be bankrolled by Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green.

It is now heard that the actor is ready to shoot another project which is in its early stage. Sun Pictures is said to be bankrolling the movie, but the production house hasn't finalized the director yet. The names of filmmakers Mithran, Mari Selvaraj and Pandiraj are doing the rounds.

Mithran and Mari Selvaraj have directed two movies each and haven't worked for Sun Pictures. On the other hand, Pandiraj's last two movies, Suriya-starrer Etharkkum Thunindhavan and Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Namma Veetu Pillai, were bankrolled by the leading production team. Apart from this, he is said to be in talks for a project with director Manikandan as well which is likely to have Vijay Sethupathi, too, playing a key role in it.

Mari Selvaraj, who is now shooting for Udhayanidhi-starrer Maamannan, will be joining hands with Dhruv Vikram for a film which will be set against the backdrop of kabaddi. Film lovers are waiting to know if both father and son will be directed by this two-film old acclaimed filmmaker.

Vikram's last theatrical release was Kadaram Kondan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). If everything goes well as planned, he might have four releases this year for the first time, including Mahaan which had a direct release on Amazon Prime Video.
