This is huge especially for die-hard Captain America fans. Anthony Mackie has been officially locked in for Marvel Studio’s upcoming superhero film Captain America 4, as per Deadline.

Malcom Spellman, who also wrote the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, has co-written the latest movie on the majorly popular Captain America franchise, along with the staff writer of the series Dalan Musson. Anthony Mackie played Sam Wilson who took up as Captain America in the series. However, who will be helming Captain America 4 is not yet been officially announced.

Chris Evans made a memorable mark as Steve Rogers, holding the iconic shield as Captain America to ward off the wrongs. He set the bar rather high, portraying the superhero and embodying him on screen to the T. But at the end of the worldwide mega blockbuster Avengers: Endgame, he passed on the honour and responsibility to Sam ‘the Falcon’ Wilson, played by Mackie. The first screen appearance of Sam Wilson was in the 2014 Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

As of now, it is not known if the characters from the series will feature in the movie as well, reprising their roles. The show features Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Noah Mills as Nico, Daniel Brühl as Helmet Zemo and Carl lumbly as Isaiah Bradley.

Deadline has stated that the deal defines a potentially career-defining moment for Mackie, who has held his own stature and garnered appreciation for his act in whatever movie he has appeared in. Some of the especially noteworthy titles include the Best Picture winner at the Academy Awards, Katherine Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker, 8 Mile and The Banker.

While it can be reasonably expected that Sebastian Stan, who co-starred with Mackie in Marvel Studios’ Disney+limited series will come onboard for the cast in the feature film, an official announcement is awaited. But there is a buzz that the makers might somehow bring Chris Evans back into the narrative.

Meanwhile, Anthony Mackie was last seen in the TV series Solos and is currently working on We have a Ghost.
