When Century Star Shivarajkumar first addressed his latest health concern in August last year, he said that he was undergoing treatment. While there were rumours swirling in the industry that he was undergoing treatment for cancer, he had not confirmed this, until he then said that he was getting chemotherapy. It was only when he moved to the next stage of the treatment – surgery – which he got done in Miami, and then returned to India that both Shivarajkumar and his pillar of strength, his wife Geetha Shivarajkumar, began to openly discuss what actually transpired.

And now, the couple has said that Shivarajkumar’s cancer journey, would be released as a documentary. During an interaction with Tv9 Kannada, Shivarajkumar said that his doctors in the US advised him to document as much of his treatment, including the surgery, which had 6 procedures , and post-operative care, which will be made available to the public shortly, to not only serve as awareness, but also to instil hope and allay fears in the minds of people.
In the last month, Shivarajkumar has revealed that his troubles began in March or April of 2024, during a visit to Mookambika, when he noticed discolouration in his urine, which was more like blood. Upon returning to Bengaluru, he had a couple of surgeries to tackle the initial issue, but when it then spread to the muscle of his bladder, further intervention was required, including chemotherapy and then surgery to remove the affected organ.
In Miami, the doctors removed the bladder and created a new one from portions of his small intestine. Called a neo-bladder, this new organ takes time to get used to its new functionality, with holding capacity increasing gradually from about 200 ml at the start, to 600 ml a few months down the line. Shivarajkumar, who was discharged 5 days after his surgery, but had several tubes and pouches for a couple more weeks, will give audiences a glimpse into how he managed to go for walks in and around the hotel they stayed.
