Kannada star Shivarajkumar is currently recuperating in Miami, following surgery for a cancerous bladder removal, and has been declared cancer-free as of now. The actor had undergone treatment prior to the surgery and is expected to return to Bengaluru by the end of the month. However, in the last couple of days, there have been unverified reports about the status of his health, including of possible kidney failure, which, Madhu Bangarappa, Geetha Shivarajkumar’s brother and politico, has now clarified.
Delving into the details of Shivarajkumar’s surgery, Madhu said that the actor had the cancerous bladder removed, following which, a portion of his intestine was used to reconstruct a bladder for him. The surgery was done at the Miami Institute of Cancer, owing to the availability of a specialist surgeon, as the procedure is quite complicated.
“Thankfully, the procedure went ahead without a hitch,” he added. The actor has close to 190 internal stitches, which are on the mend, and he is expected to return to Bengaluru on January 25. Shivarajkumar’s general fitness is why he’s recovering rapidly, said Madhu.
On the work front, Shivarajkumar had seen through the release of his home production Bhairathi Ranagal before he left to the US. He’d also completed the shoot of Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, even though he’d begun cancer treatment at the time. On January 14, Arjun announced that the film, 45, will be in theatres on August 15. As such, his next release is likely to be A for Anand, the Geetha Pictures production based on the Japanese bestseller Toto Chan: The Girl By The Window, or Firefly, his daughter Niveditha’s debut production, in which Shivarajkumar has a cameo.
The Hattrick Hero has a long list of projects lined up, but it remains to be seen which one he picks up first. Fans are also hopeful that he will be a part of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, which was officially announced on January 14.
