A section of Malayalam audience was disappointed after the makers of Kunchacko Boban and Arjun Ashokan-starrer Chaaver had decided to delay its release once again. The political drama-thriller, helmed by Tinu Pappachan, was initially set to hit theatres on September 28, setting a box-office clash with Mammootty’s Kannur Squad and also offering more choices for the viewers during the long weekend.

The film, however, has been pushed to October 5, Tinu tells OTTplay exclusively. It’s not the first time that a Kunchacko Boban-starrer has missed its initial release date this year, with Padmini too having similar issues.

Why was Chaaver postponed?

While Padmini was delayed keeping in mind the prevailing weather conditions in Kerala during July, Chaaver seemed to be pushed to post-production challenges. On why the film has been pushed to October 5, Tinu tells us, “We are yet to complete work on the movie. There is a bit of delay in completing the CGI work of the climax portions in the film.”

Incidentally, the movie was screened for the censor board on Monday in Thiruvananthapuram. There were also reports the film could have been delayed due to suggested cuts, but the makers have not confirmed this.

Despite the delay, the film is still one of the most-anticipated releases in Malayalam in the coming weeks. The political drama, which is scripted by Joy Mathew, is Tinu’s biggest project till date. The filmmaker also tells us that it will be a visual experience for the audience, with the team shooting in different terrains in Kannur and Kasargode. Apart from the leading actors, the movie also has Thinkalazcha Nishchayam fame Manoj KU and Romancham actor Sajin Gopu in pivotal roles.
