Kannada cinema’s Challenging Star Darshan is very clear about date allocation – 85 days is all that you will get him for. And if you are an efficient filmmaker with a clear vision on how to utilize these dates well, you will be on track to bring your film to theatres in good time. Tharun Sudhir, who is making his second full-fledged film Kaatera with Darshan, has shot with the actor for 71 days so far and has pretty much finished all the talkie portions already.
Speaking to the media last evening, Darshan explained that Tharun is on course to bring the film to theatres as soon as possible but could not commit on a fixed date as the team is yet to finish the song shoots. “I follow a certain rule – I will allot 85 days and we are on day 71 now. If you consider 3-4 days for each song, I will be done with the film within the allotted dates. We’ve finished the climax and most of the actors have also completed dubbing for the film. Almost 95% of the film has been completed and the focus is on bringing it to theatres at the earliest,” said Darshan at the first press briefing of the film since the muhurtha. The film is expected to be in post-production for another month at least, taking the total production to about 100 days.
Kaatera is the launchpad of veteran actress Malashree’s daughter, Araadhana Ram, and Darshan was effusive in his praise of the young talent. “Throughout the shoot, she got all her scenes right with a single take and that says a lot about her talent,” said Darshan. Kaatera also stars Kumar Govind, Avinash, Jagapati Babu, among others. “New faces, if any, are all great talents from various theatre groups,” Darshan added. The film has been produced by Rockline Venkatesh, with whom this is Darshan’s third collaboration, and is expected to be in theatres.
