Chatha Pacha box office collection day 4: The latest Malayalam film, inspired by WWE wrestling, has been slightly improving its collections at the ticket window after getting trolled for the star cameo of Mammootty. Starring Roshan Mathew and Arjun Ashokan, Chatha Pacha has crossed Rs 10 crore in India net collections within 4 days, according to the Sacnilk website. Helmed by Adhvaith Nayar, Chatha Pacha would be seeking to make more of the long Republic Day weekend.

How much Chatha Pacha collected at the box office

The Malayalam film Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies released in theatres on January 22, after a special premiere on January 20. Though the premiere show garnered positive reviews, theatrical release had a more mixed response. Also starring Vishak Nair and Ishan Shoukath, Chatha Pacha opened with Rs 3.4 crore but saw a dip on day 2 with just Rs 2.1 crore. Day 3 stayed steady with Rs 2.15 crore, and day 4 saw a marginal increase to Rs 2.6 crore. The makers would be relieved that the film is seeing an upward trend, albeit minor, as it heads to the Republic Day. Chatha Pacha brings some slick action and energetic performances, which has impressed the younger audiences.

The film will have a free run till January 30 when Jeethu Joseph’s Valathu Vashathe Kallan hits theatres. Senior actors Joju George and Biju Menon lead this thriller. Another Malayalam film Prakambanam will also release in theatres on January 30.

What is Chatha Pacha about

The film Chatha Pacha narrates the tale of three youths, who are passionate about wrestling, thanks to a wrestler Walter Bullet who has left Kochi. The youths start a WWE wrestling- inspired fight club in Kochi, and begin to gain popularity. The trouble starts when Vetri (Roshan Mathew) goes up against Savio (Arjun Ashokan) as a past secret is revealed.

Mammootty played the Bullet Walter character in the movie. Though a cameo appearance at the movie climax, Walter's role was trolled online. However, Mammootty defended his performance, stating he only did what he was asked to by the makers. 

Mammootty will be next seen in the much-awaited movie Patriot, also starring Mohanlal. Mahesh Narayanan helms the upcoming movie, set for a summer release.
