Chatha Pacha OTT release: Mammootty redubs for the first time in his career for his Walter cameo

The Malayalam film Chatha Pacha The Ring of Rowdies was on the receiving end of some brutal trolls after the much-hyped cameo of megastar Mammootty did not have the desired impact. Many viewers found the appearance and dialogue delivery of Mammootty’s Bullet Walter jarring. However, both the makers and the megastar himself seem to have taken note of audience criticism and tried to make amends. Mammootty has redubbed for his Walter character ahead of its Netflix release. This is the first time in his career that the megastar has redubbed his portions.

What is Mammootty’s role in Chatha Pacha

The 2026 Malayalam movie Chatha Pacha, directed by debutant Adhvaith Nayar, made its digital debut on Netflix on February 19. Mammootty plays Bullet Walter, a wrestler and a mentor to Savio, Vetri and Little. Walter makes an appearance only in the climax, but still got trolled, especially over his dialogues rendered in Kochi slang. But the netizens who watched the movie on the streaming giant were in for a surprise as the dialogue of Walter sounded better on the OTT version, hinting that Mammootty has redubbed for the digital release. However, this has not been officially confirmed by the makers or the platform.

Mammootty is known for his near impeccable dialogue delivery, and is credited with acing different dialects of Malayalam, spoken in various parts of Kerala. His role in Pranchiyettan & the Saint required him to perfect the Thrissur slang, while Rajamanikyam saw him dabbling in Trivandrum dialect. Both these 2000s films are still celebrated, with the dialogues being key to its success.
